Sign up for Nixle Alerts
Nixle is a community information service provider built exclusively to provide secure and reliable communications. The Napa Sheriff’s Office has a contract with Nixle to allow all City and County government agencies to send messages to anyone who has chosen to receive the messages from us. The messages are sent out as text messages and e-mails. The service is free for the community to receive messages (unless your service provider charges for text messages).
To “opt in” all you have to do is go to the web site https://local.nixle.com/register/
First enter your e-mail, password, name, and cell phone number - if you want to receive text messages.
Then choose where you want to receive your information, whether by text over your mobile device or e-mail. Text messages are short and do not contain photos. E-mail contains more information and you can click on the Nixle link of the e-mail to view attached photos.
Using the “Account” tab you can select to receive your messages in ENGLISH or SPANISH!
After you register, go to the “Settings” tab and you can then select what type of information you want to receive and what agencies you want to receive information from. Types are: Alerts (many would refer to this as an emergency type alert), Advisories (less urgent need-to-know information), and Community Information (day-to-day neighborhood to community-level information).
