The Watson Ranch/Napa Valley Ruins/Canyon Estates Steering Committee was formed by the City Council on July 16, 2013, to facilitate the planning for the Town Center (Watson Ranch/Napa Valley Ruins) and to facilitate community input on interim uses for the Town Center. Due to proximity and related issues, the City Council also supported Steering Committee review of the Canyon Estates development application. For more information about Canyon Estates, CLICK HERE.
The Steering Committee helps carry out the City Council Fiscal Year 2013/2014 goal to:
• Work with the developer to facilitate planning for the Town Center
• Identify and embrace interim uses at the Town Center to draw visitors. Facilitate Council and community input and process CUP expeditiously.
The Steering Committee is intended to provide an additional level of community engagement to help ensure projects address the interests of the community and reflect the city’s relevant development policies and practices. The Steering Committee serves two primary functions. First, the committee will review the developer’s proposals and provide initial feedback on how city development ordinances, standards and policies should be applied. This will give the developer feedback early in the process. Secondly, after a mutually-acceptable development plan has been created, the committee will assist with community outreach.
Steering Committee appointments were made by the City Council and include the following members:
Leon Garcia, Mayor, City of American Canyon
Mark Joseph, City Council Member, City of American Canyon
