At the end of each calendar year, the City Clerk publishes a list of upcoming vacancies to be filled by the City Council in the following year. This is done pursuant to the Maddy Act, Government Code Section 54970. Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of American Canyon will be considering appointments to the following boards, commissions and committees in 2014.
BLUE RIBBON WATER COMMITTEE
Open ended terms; No vacancies in 2014
The Blue Ribbon Committee on Water Resources was established by the Mayor and City Council in 2007 to serve as a sounding board on water-related issues. The committee includes elected and appointed city leaders, residents, developers with interests inside and outside the city limits, vineyard owners, business owners, and agency representatives, including a member of the Napa County Board of Supervisors.
OPEN SPACE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
No terms expiring in 2014
The Open Space Advisory Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council about matters pertaining to open space, trails and related issues. Members of the Open Space Advisory Committee are appointed by the City Council.
PARKS AND COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION
Two terms expiring in 2014
Applicants for the Parks and Community Services Commission should have general knowledge/interest of park improvements, open space management, facility maintenance, recreation programming and community services.
Three terms expiring in 2014
Applicants should have some knowledge of land use planning, zoning, economic development and community issues in the City of American Canyon.

MOSQUITO ABATEMENT DISTRICT BOARD
One term expiring in 2014
No specialized professional background or experience is required, however a background in accounting is encouraged.
NAPA CITY-COUNTY LIBRARY COMMISSION
One term expiring in 2014
The Commission advises the Library Director, the County Board of Supervisors and the cities on matters pertaining to the Library. The responsibilities of the Commission include: 1) attending meetings and making recommendations related to Library operations and programs; 2) reviewing budgets and participating in long range planning for the Library; and 3) advocating for legislation and funding to help meet the needs of the community and the Library.
LOCAL FOOD ADVISORY COUNCIL
No terms expiring in 2017
Applicants for the Local Food Advisory Council should possess knowledge of or experience in the area of agriculture.
All terms run from January 1 to December 31 with the exception of the Measure A Financial Oversight Committee, Napa City County Library Commission, and Local Food Advisory Council.
Applications may be obtained by contacting Rebekah Barr, MMC, City Clerk. Applications may also be downloaded from the City’s website. Applications will be held for a period of one year.
