After School Swim Classes

Meet your Instructor:

Kevin Chester:
Kevin has been a swim coach for 10 years now.  He has coached summer league, high school, and club teams.  He is currently the head coach for the High School swim team.  In his 10 years of coaching, he has had numerous league champs titles, a couple of section title championships, and his swimmers have broken countless team and meet records.  He is a graduate of UC Davis and has a teaching credential from Sacramento State University. He is a certified coach through USA Swimming and the American Swim Coaches Association.


SEALS

This class will be primarily focused on the transition from swim lessons to swimmers being able to swim laps.  This class will work on stroke mechanics and building endurance to swim multiple laps in a single workout.  These swimmers will be working towards swimming 200 yards without stopping.

(No class 9/1, 10/3, 10/13, 10/29)

SHARKS

This class will be for swimmers that have previous training in swimming laps.  We will focus on stroke technique and start introducing training styles.  We will introduce the use of the pace clock.  Swimmers will be swimming between 1500 and 2000 yards per practice.

ORCAS ADVANCED SWIM CLASS

This class focuses on training swimmers to compete while fine tuning their stoke mechanics. Swimmers will swim between 2500 and 4000 yards per practice.  Swimmers should have a good understanding of intervals and know how to use a clock for pacing purposes. 

 (No class 9/1, 10/3, 10/13, 10/29)

Recreation Program Scholarships Now Available

Would you or someone you know love to take a class but cannot afford the added expense? We are proud to announce that the City of American Canyon now has recreation program scholarships available to residents of American Canyon. We are currently accepting applications for activities that will take place between the months of December through March. 

 

Resident’s seeking assistance may pick up an application from the Parks and Recreation Department located at 100 Benton Way or by downloading our Recreation Program Scholarship Assistance Application.  Applications are due no later than 1 week (7 days) prior to the Activities Guide Registration Opening.
