The Finance Department oversees the fiscal affairs of the City and provides financial services to include:
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable/Collections
- Purchasing
- Payroll
- Business Licensing
- Debt Service Administration
- Finance Committee
- Investments
- Cash Management
- Utility Billing
- Financial Reporting
- Grant Accounting
The Department Head, Barry Whitley, services as Finance Director. He provides leadership and policy guidelines on a wide variety of fiscal issues in addition to general administration of the Department. The Director is also responsible for specific activities including coordinating the budget process and preparation of the budget document, coordinating the annual independent audit and preparation of the City's Comprehensive Financial Report (CAFR), filing state mandated cost claims and preparing annual fee adjustments. The Director also provides staff support to the Finance Committee.
The Finance Department is responsible for providing support services to all departments in the City including the American Canyon Fire Protection District, a subsidiary district of the City. Department staff is dedicated to providing excellent customer service in an efficient and courteous manner.
