LONG-TERM COMMUNITY NEEDS AND PRIORITIZATION PROCESS
Industry best practice calls for a systematic and regular process to conduct strategic planning, identifying community needs, setting priorities, gaining funding and executing programming and facility changes.
Communities generally evaluate long-term priorities on five-year increments. Approximately every ten years, the relevant and associated General Plan Elements need updated. On five-year increments, the parks and recreation master plan need update. At any time, significant changes within the community that affects resident’s needs can lead to updating either items out of the typical cycle.
