The City of American Canyon has partnered with the Napa County Resource Conservation District on a grant-funded project through the State Water Resources Control Board to fund the restoration and improvement of the Upper Loop trails at Newell Open Space Preserve. Contractors, Bohan and Canelis General Engineering Inc., will begin construction on September 3rd and continue through October 14th (30 working days) along the East Loop of Newell Open Space. Newell Open Space will be restricted to all user access to allow for construction on the trails/roads.
The goal of this project is to reconstruct the poor and failing road/trail structure into a well-functioning, non-eroding, properly draining road/trail; provide a safer and more enjoyable outdoor recreation experience for users; reduce rural road-related sediment delivery in the Napa River Watershed; and improve the surrounding riparian habitat through improved and adequate drainage.
The City, Napa County Resource Conservation District, and Bohan and Canelis appreciate your patience and cooperation during this project. If you have any questions, please contact Shelan Zuhdi, Parks and Open Space Project coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org or (707) 647-5358.
